Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 23 September 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the Reigate FND Support Group website, online community, discussion forums and any associated services.
By registering for an account or using any part of the Reigate FND Support Group community, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1. About Reigate FND Support Group
Reigate FND Support Group is a peer-support community intended to provide a safe and supportive place for adults affected by Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), including people with FND, carers, family members and supporters, to share experiences, information and personal perspectives.
Reigate FND Support Group is not a medical organisation, healthcare provider, medical practice or emergency service.
The group is run by people who are not medically trained or medically qualified unless specifically stated otherwise.
Nothing published on this website or within the community should be considered a diagnosis, medical assessment, medical treatment, clinical recommendation or substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
2. Age Restriction
The Reigate FND Support Group online community is strictly for people aged 18 years and over.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, register for the forum or participate in discussions.
By registering, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly permit anyone under the age of 18 to register for or participate in the online community.
If we discover that an account has been created by, or belongs to, a person under the age of 18, we may suspend or remove that account and any associated information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.
Please do not provide personal information belonging to a person under the age of 18 through the forum.
This age restriction applies to participation in our online community and does not imply that people under 18 cannot have FND or cannot seek support. Young people with health concerns should speak to a parent, guardian, GP, specialist or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
3. Peer Support – Not Medical Advice
The Reigate FND Support Group provides a platform where people can share their own experiences, opinions, information and support.
Members of the group are not necessarily medically trained or medically qualified.
Information posted by members may include personal experiences, opinions, interpretations of medical information, suggestions or advice based on an individual's own circumstances.
Such information:
-
is not medical advice;
-
has not necessarily been reviewed or verified by a healthcare professional;
-
may not be appropriate for another person's circumstances;
-
should not be relied upon for diagnosis or treatment; and
-
should not be used as a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
People with FND can experience very different symptoms, diagnoses, treatments and outcomes. What has helped one person may not be appropriate or safe for another person.
You should always consider your own circumstances and seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your health, medication or treatment.
4. Medical Emergencies
The Reigate FND Support Group community must not be used for medical emergencies.
If you believe that you or another person is experiencing a medical emergency, serious deterioration, new or unexplained symptoms, or a situation requiring urgent medical attention, contact the appropriate emergency or healthcare service.
In the UK, this may include contacting 999, NHS 111, your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional, depending on the circumstances.
Do not wait for a response from the Reigate FND Support Group community where urgent medical attention may be required.
5. Responsibility for User Posts
Members are responsible for the content that they post, including comments, discussions, recommendations, links, images and other material.
Reigate FND Support Group does not endorse, guarantee or verify the accuracy of information posted by members.
The views expressed by individual members are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Reigate FND Support Group or the people who operate the group.
Reigate FND Support Group does not accept responsibility for decisions made by a user as a result of information, opinions, suggestions or advice posted by another member.
You remain responsible for deciding whether information shared by another member is appropriate or relevant to your own circumstances.
6. No Doctor-Patient Relationship
Participation in the Reigate FND Support Group community does not create a doctor-patient, clinician-patient, therapist-client or other healthcare professional relationship between you and the group, its organisers, administrators, moderators or other members.
Nothing on the website or within the community should be interpreted as establishing such a relationship.
7. Limitation of Responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable UK law, Reigate FND Support Group and the people responsible for operating the group are not responsible for loss, damage or consequences arising from reliance upon information, opinions, advice or other content posted by users of the community.
This includes information concerning symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, medication, therapies, investigations, healthcare providers or other health-related matters.
However, nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable UK law.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights.
8. Accuracy of Information
We aim to provide useful and responsible information, but we cannot guarantee that all information appearing on the website or within the community will be complete, accurate, current or suitable for every individual.
Medical knowledge, clinical guidance and treatment options can change over time.
Where appropriate, users should check important medical information with reliable sources and qualified healthcare professionals.
9. User Conduct
Members are expected to use the community respectfully and responsibly.
You must not:
-
deliberately provide misleading or dangerous information;
-
present yourself as a medical professional when you are not one;
-
diagnose another member;
-
tell another member to stop, start or change prescribed medication;
-
encourage another person to ignore appropriate medical advice;
-
make threats or engage in harassment, bullying or abuse;
-
post content that is unlawful;
-
share another person's private or confidential information without appropriate permission;
-
impersonate another person;
-
deliberately spread false information;
-
use the community to promote commercial services without permission;
-
post threatening, discriminatory or abusive content; or
-
attempt to circumvent the group's age restrictions.
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts where we consider that these rules have been breached or where action is necessary to protect members or the community.
10. Moderation
Reigate FND Support Group may moderate discussions and remove, edit or restrict access to content where we consider this necessary to maintain a safe and constructive community.
Moderation does not mean that Reigate FND Support Group has medically reviewed or endorsed the remaining content.
Because a community may contain a large amount of user-generated content, we cannot guarantee that every post will be reviewed before it becomes visible.
If you see content that you believe is dangerous, seriously misleading, abusive or otherwise inappropriate, please report it to the group administrators.
11. Links to Other Websites
The Reigate FND Support Group website or community may contain links to external websites.
These websites are operated by third parties and are outside our control.
The inclusion of a link does not necessarily mean that Reigate FND Support Group endorses the website, organisation, product, service or information provided.
You should assess information obtained from external websites independently and, where it concerns your health, consider discussing it with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
12. Privacy and Personal Information
You should avoid posting personal or sensitive information about yourself or other people in public areas of the community.
This may include:
-
full names;
-

NHS numbers;
-
photographs containing identifying information; or
-
other information that could identify you or another person.
Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
You should read the Privacy Policy before registering for the community.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to the website, community rules, legal requirements or how the service operates.
The latest version will be published on this website.
Your continued use of the community following an update means that you accept the revised Terms and Conditions.
14. Suspension or Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Reigate FND Support Group community if you:
-
breach these Terms and Conditions;
-
breach our community rules;
-
provide false information about your age;
-
engage in behaviour that creates a risk to other members;
-
misuse the website; or
-
otherwise use the service in a way that we reasonably consider inappropriate.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms and Conditions will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.
16. Acceptance

-
you are 18 years of age or older;
-
you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions;
-
you understand that Reigate FND Support Group is a peer-support community and not a medical service;

you understand that information posted by members is not necessarily provided by medically trained or qualified people;

you will not rely upon forum discussions as a substitute for professional medical advice; and
